This is extra info regarding Smoothwall Express.

You should be able to install Smoothwall Express 3.1 on all but the newest Pentium-class hardware. Give it a whirl and help us make it the best yet.

Recently, it was put in such a way that I had not thought before, but is really so simple, that it should have been said that way from the beginning....

...the general rule of thumb is that Smoothwall Express is not likely to run on hardware that is newer than its kernel.
